Tappt Social ("Tappt") is an app that helps people find activities and meet others who share their interests. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Data we collect

When you use Tappt, we collect the following information that you provide directly:

• Account information: Phone number (for authentication), first and last name, profile photo
• Interests: The interests you enter during onboarding and later in your profile
• Chat messages: Text messages and photos you send in event group chats
• Event activity: Which events you express interest in and your feedback on past events

We also collect some data automatically:

• Analytics events: App opens, interest additions, event interactions, and chat activity to understand how the app is used
• Device tokens: For delivering push notifications

How we use your data

• Interest matching: Your interests are used to cluster you with other users who share similar interests, and to generate and rank events in your feed
• Event generation: Aggregated interest data from users on your campus is used to generate AI-powered event suggestions. Your individual data is not sent to the AI — only anonymized interest clusters.
• Group chat: Your name and profile photo are visible to other users in event group chats you join
• Notifications: We send push notifications for event reminders, new events matching your interests, and group chat messages
• Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to understand app usage patterns and improve the product

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal data to third parties
• We do not serve ads
• We do not track your location

Third-party services

Tappt uses the following third-party services to operate:

• Firebase (Google) — Authentication, database, file storage, push notifications, and analytics
• OpenAI — Interest normalization and event generation (no personal data is sent — only anonymized interest keywords)
• Google Places API — Venue verification for generated events

These services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

Data retention

Your account data is retained as long as your account exists. Group chat messages are retained with their associated events. If you delete your account, your profile data is removed. Chat messages you sent in group chats may remain visible to other participants.

Moderation

Tappt includes a reporting system for group chat messages and users. Reports are reviewed to maintain community safety. We may access group chat content for moderation purposes when a report is filed.

Your choices

• You can edit or remove your interests and profile photo at any time from your profile
• You can disable push notifications in your device settings
• You can sign out at any time from your profile

Children's privacy

Tappt is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app.
